Street Prophets Friday: Snow! [1]

Ahhh, greetings! Welcome to another of my little, fluffy open threads. And hey, welcome to December! This week with extra fluff— snowy fluff!

How's everybody doing? The last bit of turkey risotto was finished off by one of the lads. The turkey enchiladas were a hit. We're down to a frozen bag of leftover stuffing, a cup of gravy that #2 Son has been slowly incorporating into sandwiches, and a jar of turkey broth.

But there's one thing we started to get the day after Thanksgiving that has stuck around longer than the turkey; we've got snow! On Thanksgiving strong winds began to blow and by the next morning we were having the first proper snowfall of the season. By the time we got out to take a walk in the woods with Fabulous Mother-In-Law, there wasn't much left.

Just traces of snow, ringing the edges of the stumps, dusting the fallen branches.

The pond in FMIL's neighborhood had a hint of snow on the railings, but the water was clear of ice.

When we stepped outside after seeing Fabulous Mother-In-law safely back into her apartment, there were tiny motes of snow falling. During the drive across town it really started coming down.

Mrs the Werelynx and I drove home in a storm.

The temperature kept hovering around zero. The sidewalks in our neighborhood were getting icy, wet and treacherous. The city wasn’t doing a particularly good job of clearing paths. I didn’t witness any falls, but there were moments of shared humor in our mutual moments of startlement as my neighbors and I circumnavigated the worst sections.

On Monday I headed downtown to run a couple errands.

The snow on Charles’ Square was lovely— the sidewalks merely wet and slushy.

I was told by someone I met that day, that near our place out in the country there's about 20 cm of snow on the ground. I just might be able to get some cross country skiing in this year.

Bell tower and red tile roof of the New Town, town hall in the background.

The river usually raises the temperature a couple of degrees, but I found a scrap of snow on these stairs— and quite a bit on the roofs of the boats, although you can't really tell it's there in this shot.

On the roofs of the buildings it should be seen better. Little details, like the snow covered bushes seen through the gate to the Emauzy Convent.

All week it has continued to snow lightly off and on.

I took this picture just this afternoon from a ninth floor apartment.

It's beginning to look a lot like …

I'm a werelynx for all seasons. I’m not a fan of the ice unless I've got my skates on, but there are few things I find more calming and magical than a walk in the snow.

Thanks for stopping by.

This is an open thread.
