Make Israel pay for weapons [1]

I oppose military aide to Israel outright. But there remains another idea, that should (I say that skeptically) appeal to House Republicans. That is, simply make the Israelis pay for their military assistance. They are a relatively wealthy country. Efforts to condition aide based on Israel’s dialing back the war and providing humanitarian aide to Gaza are good efforts pointed in the right direction. Conditions requiring dialing back their assault and providing humanitarian aide to Gaza could still be attached. I opposed Trump’s sale of weapons to the Saudis. But, they were required to pay. We are selling nuclear submarines to Australia, not giving them away. Why should US taxpayers pay for this one?
