kissinger’s value:
he was the proponent of ‘realpolitic’, that having a moral compass, having a concern over the means not justifying the ends was absurd. that proof’s in the pudding..we are here, we are prospering or at least continuing and the price paid for these conditions are never to be questioned. that was why he was beloved by the mighty…he kept the game alive and was unconcerned who died in that process. and the mistakes made, the horror, the suffering were all just parts of life and no concern to the survivors…
rich people don’t pay taxes, certainly not at the rate of your or i, and they don’t send their children to war…they all have bone spurs or rotc exemptions and the national guard in a draft and enough money to never worry in a volunteer army.
kissinger’s value was to prop up the might and value of the united states in a cost effective and conscience-less way. the right (and the monied middle) have NEVER questioned the value of the military. the military is the part of the budget that neither party touches…social security might get ‘questioned’ but not the military.

the old saw ‘those that don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it’ was never lost on kissinger. he understood that winners write history and was busily producing book after book tracing his successes. but never questioned that the murderous policies he espoused could have been just as or more effective with a more humane basis, that there are other ways to get security and peace, that we ignore any ethical or moral basis when realpolitik is the only consideration.
i consider mr. kissinger to be a great model for the ongoing leadership of the gop. it is not cruelty for it’s own sake, it is cruelty to maintain wealth and position. to question that expediency is just silly…because the ends justify the means always and forever.
