I keep on seeing a commercial for Indonesia on BBC News channel. The way they are selling themselves, in some ways, tickles me:

Amid the world slowdown, we stand firm. As home to a fifth of global nickel reserves, Indonesia is poised to lead the global battery industry. We have deftly managed our abundant resources and play a vital role in solar energy harnessing offering 75% of global carbon credit potential. Committed to environmental protection, enhancing investment climate through digital licensing, Indonesia, your better tomorrow.

It’s good to see that climate and the energy transition are front and forward but I have my doubts, given what I’ve read about deforestation in Indonesia and the veracity of “carbon credit potential” ability to make good on the promise, theirs and ours, of the insurmountable opportunities all around us.
