It was a long night in Kyiv.

x Massive Russian drone attack on Ukraine last night. Most of the drones were targeted at Kyiv.

71 of the 75 launched drones were shot down by air defense forces.

This is quite a development. The obvious question is — what country or countries are providing these warships? Zelenskyy also says that additional air defense systems are headed for Odesa.

The missile attack on the air defense system in Crimea yesterday apparently resulted in a lot of Russian casualties.

This is a good thread on the situation in Avdiivka:

x Despite dense cloud cover blocking satellite, drone, and optical surveillance of the Avdiivka battlefield, our team continued the analysis using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems. Here is what we learned about the current situation. 🧵Thread: pic.twitter.com/K4cTkWWpme — Tatarigami_UA (@Tatarigami_UA) November 24, 2023

Some Key Observations - Vehicle Reduction: In contrast to the initial month of assaults, russian forces are employing fewer vehicles in smaller numbers. - Tactical Shift: There's a notable increase in the use of small tactical groups, consistently moving in the same areas despite prior losses.- Guided Aerial bombs: There is a consistent uptick in the use of guided aerial bombs by Russian forces. As we correctly predicted, worsened weather conditions have hindered russian overextended logistics routes. Consequently, this limitation made it difficult to develop initial successes, particularly in the northern sector of Avdiivka, notably around Berdychi. Following an initial success north of Avdiivka, Russian forces extended their assaults for over a month. Despite tactical successes, they failed to establish persistent footholds in the AKHZ plant. Recently, Russians seized control of parts of the industrial zone south of Avdiivka. These gains were primarily attributed to continuous infantry assaults, posing potential challenges for Ukrainian defenders in the coming weeks. Russian forces persist in deploying small tactical groups, despite a high mortality rate. This sustained tactic, where one group follows another, has the potential to exhaust Ukrainian troops and compromise their positions over time. The deployment of cluster bombs, as well as 250-1500kg bombs equipped with the UMPK kit poses a significant problem. Despite them being inaccurate, they are still dangerous due to the big explosive charge, particularly problematic in urban areas, leading to severe destruction. In simpler terms, facing substantial losses and challenging weather, Russians ramped up offensives using readily available resources—infantry, artillery, and aerial bombs.

Switzerland still isn’t providing any military assistance or allowing the re-export of hardware it sold to other countries. But Swiss President Alain Berset made a trip to Ukraine to announce humanitarian aid. The package includes firefighting equipment and ambulances. Switzerland also plans on hosting a conference on mine clearance in Ukraine.

You read this and you get the idea that Russian war-fighting strategy hasn’t changed much in 100 years.

It would be nice if the old method of landscaping the gray zone still worked, where the attacking infantry gets shelter in the form of bomb craters, but now it does not work. Shell craters do not save you from

either clusters or dropped munitions. To avoid accusations of infantry bias (although people still tend to read with their assholes), I will repeat once again: our artillery undoubtedly produces results; it would be strange to question this at all. But! In terms of artillery support for attacking actions of armored groups and assault infantry, these results are insufficient! Even through these fucking mine fields you can, at the very least, slowly crawl through with

proper fire support. I understand the complexity of situations when artillerymen simply do not have enough ammo, but, let's say, they have accumulated enough ammo for this specific operation. However, density without results and lame coordination of artillery work with the actions of armor and infantry are wasted iron. And likewise, wasted lives of our guys and piles of broken iron. And impressive footage of choked attacks.

Speaking of wasting lives …..

Ukraine continues to press toward the M-14 highway south of Krynky to cut Russian logistics routes.

The evolution of Ukrainian drones continues. This one is designed to clear Russian trenches.

In addition to aerial drones, the enemy uses remote-controlled weapons of this type. The thing is mobile and maneuverable, quite silent. The worst thing is that there are heat sensors, that is, when you try to get close, it detonates.

The rise of the far right in Europe — and its success in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and now The Netherlands — points out the flaws in the current system of governance for the European Union.

x Ultimately, the growing influence of the alt-right in Europe will either force the process of the centralization of the EU, creating a functional political entity ready of the challenges of modernity, or it will splinter the continent making it the new third-world. — Aleksandar Djokic (Александар Джокич) (@polidemitolog) November 23, 2023
