There is nothing even close to the importance of the attempted coup for 2024 presidential election [1]

In a certain way, I suppose, the polls are not a complete shock even though I don't believe that general election polls taken before even a single election in either major political party's primary are accurate predictors or the next year's presidential election.
President Biden is not the most skilled skilled communicator. He is much better at the job than campaigning for the job. The right wing is exceptional at getting their leaders in government and in media to push out the same message and then get their voters to push and repeat it on social media. They don't consider the possibility that any of that message is not true. They all imbibe the entire message and repeat it. The leaders in government on the left don't simply accept whatever message they are given. The non right media criticizes those whom it feels should be criticized whether the object of their criticism is on the left or the right. Voters who lean left are very diverse. Many members of the Democratic Party hold mutually exclusive views. Many activists and younger people on the left hold different views than other members of the Democratic Party. No matter what President Biden does, there will be some part of those on the left or in the Democratic Party who will oppose him. Then you add in the amount of uninformed and uneducated people in this country, a great many of whom are willfully blind, and perhaps we can not be completely surprised by how many voters reveal their ignorance and stupidity in polls. Many of the poll questions are iq tests of those participating in the poll. They are Rorschach tests.
I know that some people unlike me feel that President Biden is in their view (a view I do NOT share) a "cocky" and terrible person and president according to some here. It will be up to the rest of us who know President Biden is an imperfect but good person and president and who know that he merits reelection on the basis of the accomplishments of his administration to advocate for him as anybody who holds the views in the first sentence of this paragraph will be a terrible advocate for him. Our democracy faces an existential threat. It will affect all of us in the most profound of ways if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. Yet it will really place members of our marginalized communities at risk more than others. For them, for our children, for the planet, and the future, we must win the 2024 presidential election and control of both chambers of Congress.
The single most important issue for the 2024 presidential election (and for Congress) is the attempted coup of 2021. Everything else pales in significance to that event. Nothing else rivals the importance of that event. Not climate change. Not choice. Not anything. How can I say that? If we don't have a democracy, then we have no way to influence the members of the federal government to support our policy preferences. Either there was outcome determinative voter fraud, so much voter fraud that it changed who won two states with margins of over 10,000 votes and one state with a margin of over 20,000 votes and we now have somebody in the White House acting as president who didn't actually win the 2020 presidential election or the then president of the United States attempted to stay in power despite losing the 2020 presidential election, attempted a coup. Those are the two possibilities. Either way makes it the most important event arguably since the Civil War.
The only people who should vote for Donald Trump are those people who believe that there was outcome determinative voter fraud, that there was so much voter fraud that it changed who won the 2020 presidential election. Everybody else should vote for President Biden. There is no rational argument that contradicts this conclusion. Voting for somebody who will not respect the will of the voters is a self-contradictory act.
We marveled at the brazen nature of the attempted insurrection. However, we might marvel even more at those who are convinced that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election, that Joe Biden lost the 2020 presidential election but there was so much voter fraud that it changed who won, and yet decided not to do anything about it. There was a coup in Washington DC and the person who lost the presidential election took power. Oh, really. What's for dinner tonight? Ho hum.
Even the people who voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election but who know that President Biden won that presidential election should vote for President Biden's reelection in 2024. That's because if they know that President Biden won the 2020 presidential election, then they know that Donald Trump attempted a coup and would have ignored the will of the voters. Voting for somebody who will ignore the will of the voters is a fundamentally irrational act.
A diary that I recommended by an awesome diarist excused the results of polls by saying that people forgot a bunch of stuff that's not insignificant but isn't important enough for most voters to remember. For some things, I might believe that. But the insurrection? Bullshit! People have not forgotten the insurrection. I don't believe for a second that people don't realize the significance of the insurrection. The attempted coup is the defining issue of the 2024 presidential election.
