When I started writing the diabetes Diaries, we didn’t know whether I could keep it up every week. Ha! Check out these stories, from just one source. And there are plenty of others. Help for whatever ails you—causes, prevention, treatments, even cures. And treatments for diabetes turn out to help with many other dread diseases.
Science Daily Diabetes News How about these, for starters? One for Type 1, and one for Type 2. A step closer to injection-free diabetes care: Innovation in insulin-producing cells Using a patient's own stem cells to replace insulin-producing cells 'the horizon' for treating diabetes, says researcher. The researchers suggest this safer and more reliable way to grow insulin-producing cells from a patient's own blood could eventually allow transplants without the need for anti-rejection drugs. Recipients of donated cells must take anti-rejection drugs for life, and the therapy is limited by the small number of donated organs available. Drug Screen Points Toward Novel Diabetes Treatments A drug currently in clinical trials as a cancer therapy can also stimulate pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin, revealing a previously unknown mechanism for insulin regulation in type 2 diabetes, according to a new study by Weill Cornell Medicine investigators. The preclinical discovery, reported Nov. 9 in Nature Chemical Biology, provides a new chemical tool for probing the biology of diabetes, and could point the way toward better treatments for the disease. I will have to go back and mine their earlier roundups.

Personal Notes
I got a stand for my laptop a while ago, replacing a lap board. I have been fiddling with it to get it stable in my recliner, and to keep it from impinging on the sides of my legs, and I think I have it right. Getting rid of the board has increased circulation in my legs, and reduced my incipient neuropathy. It’s down to just a tingle in my toes again.
I have signed up for different Medicare drug insurance from Humana, which will allow me to go back to the Kroger pharmacy in January, and greatly reduce my cost for Ozempic. It has half the total annual cost of Cigna.
My waffle cushion is working to let a sore on my butt heal.
My wife and I got our flu and covid shots, and can get an RSV vaccine soon. The doctor recommended not getting all three at the same time. Also, Cigna wouldn’t cover mine at Kroger, and Humana will.
I am trying to ramp up the amount of exercise I can do. It’s slow going, but it will definitely be worth it.
How are you doing?
