Desperate for Any Possible Help from the Community [1]
['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']
Date: 2023-11-22
Please forgive me, as this is difficult to write, but I’ve tried every other possible resource before coming to the community for possible help.
November has been an extremely hard month for our family. On the 2nd, I contracted COVID and was down for almost 2 weeks — and while I was recovering, the Paxlovid combined with the illness left me dangerously dehydrated and I was hospitalized for 3 days. The paramedics and ER both told me that if I hadn’t called 911 when I did that I may have died that night. Evidently, the illness had just left me so dehydrated, I was near death. I survived that terrible night and I’m still recovering. However, my wife now has COVID, as well. We’re literally nursing each other and won’t be able to see our families for Thanksgiving, as planned, as this month has just landed like an anvil with all that’s occurred. Because of this, I missed an entire month of work — and right now, our landlord is giving us until Friday to pay November’s rent (and then just until the 1st to pay December’s rent). Our parents have no ability to help. We’re literally at a point, with my wife sick with COVID in bed and me recovering from the hospitalization, where we could be evicted at the end of this month if we don’t at least get November paid. There’s just nowhere else for me to go but to the Kos community to ask if anyone at all could possibly help us with anything that can allow us to reach the $700 that we need for November. Literally anything that allow us to move towards that so that we can have a little time to figure out what we’ll do about December.
My wife and I are on our knees right now to anyone who may read this who is able to contribute something — anything at all — to help us reach the $700 we need for November after this nightmare of a month. We’re not asking for the full amount — only any possible help to get us close. We are deeply aware and understand that we are not dealing with the horrors of a situation like the families in Gaza or Ukraine are right now and my wife didn’t want me to do this — but I just don’t know where else to turn at this point. If anyone is able to do anything at all, our appreciation could not be measured. I’m a writer by profession and I’ve additionally been thrown back with the strikes this year, so to be hit with everything we’ve experienced this month has — well, it’s been a lot. We profoundly love the community here and once my help improves, I’ll be registering voters in Florida as I always do — but for the moment the only thing I can focus on is trying to not be evicted at the end of the month after these health crises until we’re both healthy again. We’re both middle-aged and simply don’t have many options.
Please forgive us for this request for help. If anyone can do anything at all, my wife’s and my PayPal is:
[email protected]
This is the name of a small publishing house I tried to run several years ago, so I just use it as my PP now. As it is a Business account, any help should be sent Goods & Services (or G&S), as it won’t accept Friends & Family.
Once again, please understand that this is not something I would ask without having exhausted every other possibility and I do so only with enormous humility.
Even we don’t receive any help or if this diary just fades away, we thank you for reading it and for understanding our desperate situation.
Thank you so very much for your time and patience in reading this.
