Israel has (so far) killed about half a percent of the population of Gaza [1]

Raw data for deaths in Gaza (so far): according to Wikipedia, Israel has killed 11,250 people in Gaza. 4,650 of whom were children. 3,250 people are missing, half of whom are likely buried under rubble. Odds are 1/3 of those dead under the rubble were children.
That’s a total death toll of about 12,875 people. Out of a population of 2.375259 million people. Which is .54 percent of Gaza. Or about half a percent of the population. Relative to the population of Israel, it's nearly the equivalent of 40 October 7ths. In simply raw numbers its about 10.
OK, then. I understand Israel has the right to defend itself. I will grant that Hamas must be removed from power in Gaza. I will grant that a good number of the dead are Hamas fighters. I will grant that they are terrorists and needed to be destroyed. And I will grant that Not all civilian deaths in war and conflict carry equal moral weight. I will grant 10,000, 20,000 and even 30,000 dead civilians is not genocide, and technically, not a war crime. Because of “collateral damage” where it is legal for Israel, and any and all nations, to target civilians so long as, in the balance, the military objective outweighs the anticipated civilian harm.
I grant all of that.
I have but one question: if the war continues as the Israeli right wing MIGA government wants it to, and the grisly toll rises, with the total non-combatants reaching and then surpassing 13,000 people attributable to Israeli actions, do we really want to be in the position of supporting a moral calculus where we, as Americans, argue that one innocent Israeli life is worth more than 10 innocent Palestinians?
I don’t.
