This is a quick story echoing The Guardian’s Story: ‘The science is irrefutable’: US warming faster than global average, says report. Their story is reporting on the Fifth National Climate Assessment from the US Global Change Research Program. I’ll need to do a deeper dive when I have more time.

From the Assessment itself: (showing the lie that cutting emissions hurts our economy)

US emissions have decreased, while the economy and population have grown Annual US greenhouse gas emissions fell 12% between 2005 and 2019. This trend was largely driven by changes in electricity generation: coal use has declined, while the use of natural gas and renewable technologies has increased, leading to a 40% drop in emissions from the electricity sector. Since 2017, the transportation sector has overtaken electricity generation as the largest emitter. {11.1, 13.1, 32.1; Figures 32.1, 32.3} As US emissions have declined from their peak in 2007, the country has also seen sustained reductions in the amount of energy required for a given quantity of economic activity and the emissions produced per unit of energy consumed. Meanwhile, both population and per capita GDP have continued to grow.

And lots of work is being done at the state level (some states):

Notice how the city level actions in Florida far outstrip the state level actions and most of the state actions were pre DeSantis. Anyone surprised at West Virginia? But let’s hear it for California and Massachusetts amongst many others!

And look at these trends in Solar and EVs!

I’ll leave that as a taster for you all. I encourage you to go read the study yourself. It’s written for general public consumption and is not all technical jargon. As for my own writing, some may have noticed a fall off in volume. There are some changes going on in my personal life I can’t really comment on at the moment. Hopefully soon I can get back to writing my normal amount (or more).
