More Russian stuff blowing up: Updates from Kreminna and Kherson [1]

NOTE: Most days I come across at least a few posts that are either a definite no go or marginal. But today the X has been eaten up with them. I’m depressed just having looked at them. And it’s not just the gory stuff like the two motorcyclists blown off their bike by a drone or the Russian soldiers blown dozens of meters from their vehicles or the fields littered with dead Russians.

There was the very long analysis of whether Putin is dead. Seriously? I’ll believe that when I see the DNA analysis of his corpse.

And the video of Miss Donetsk Peoples Republic. Good lord. The posts all make fun of her, but it’s just sad to watch.

Needless to say, I left some Russian stuff out.

Partisans play a big role in Ukraine’s war effort, either in carrying out attacks themselves or relaying intelligence to Ukrainian military units.

Russia continues to try to do to Kherson what it has done to Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

This Russian soldier got more than he bargained for on video. Looks like the target was an S-300 system.

Topoli is a tiny village due east of Kharkiv and only about two miles from the Russian border.

x Ukrainian border guards hoisted the national flag in the village of Topoli in Kharkiv Oblast, which is currently in the so-called grey zone, an area not under anyone's control.

An update on the situation on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

The AFU captures positions west of Bilohrudove and northwest of Hola Prystan. But what is going on there? So you have to understand that the Russians, as I reported weeks ago, only have 2 or maybe 2.5 large units on the Dnipro at the moment. The 70th, the 810th and the 7th.

This study attempted to profile the average Russian Army volunteer.

The full article is here.

x They are much more interested in temporary work (вахта) and often have experience working in oil and gas fields. This is likely not a coincidence, as the war still is the best-paying job available for most Russians. 2/8 pic.twitter.com/zJEmcWZTQU — Arnold Khachaturov (@arnldkh) November 9, 2023

On average, these men are less educated and likely served in the army in the past. 3/8 They also have friends from eastern Ukraine more frequently compared to a random person of the same demographic group and region. 4/8 Volunteers follow pro-war groups, however, unlike armchair supporters of the war, they prefer unofficial sources with simpler types of content. 5/8 Those who volunteer for war have pretty much the same interests as the “average men” from their age group and region. 6/8 Active supporters of the war, on the other hand, predominantly comprise state employees who are forced to demonstrate support for the war by their higher-ups. 7/8 These conclusions align well with independent sociological research on Russian public opinion. We were able to gather this data from VK, which of course has its limitations, but I believe it serves as a good example of what "alternative sociology" might look like. 8/8

Mud? What mud?

Is there anything in Ukraine the Russians won’t steal?
