First American to apply for asylum in a foreign Country [1]

Now for the American Greg Wilson – he testified before the Texas Legislature against the 2021 bill against gender-affirming care for minors. He is now 19 and had left home, but his mothers address had been shared online, and men with assault rifles started tailing her, and following her to work. Basically she feared for her life. So she and her son have moved to New Zealand, and enrolled in college to get student visa’s and have applied for political asylum because they fear for their lives. They will be the first Americans to file for asylum in a foreign country because they are no longer safe in the US. They could have moved to another state, but there are already 20 states with anti-tran laws. And if Trump is elected or any Republican it might go national. So they decided to leave.
They have applied for asylum but have not yet been accepted — it takes a while for claims to process.
Looking up sources I also found:
A British transgender woman has been granted asylum in New Zealand on the grounds that it is “safer” for her there.
The 57-year-old woman was accepted on exceptional humanitarian grounds after suffering years of harassment and discrimination in the UK.
An immigration and protection tribunal in Auckland ruled that it would be "unduly harsh" to force her to move back to Britain, where she suffered years of “persecution” due to her gender identity disorder.
If you are Trans, please note Oregon is a sanctuary state for you – but as a blue state we are expensive, but the state has been looking into resources to help folks move here…. If this goes federal, I doubt Oregon will go along, but our rural areas are pretty red, you’d be confined to the urban areas, again those are the expensive areas.

Personally it blows my mind, that the US has become the kind of country people have to flee for their safety.
