When the war was done, it was not over.
For anyone who lived there.
For anyone who fought there.
For those who came back home, it was not over
When the war was done there still was screaming
By those trapped in a hell of endless grieving
Friends and families ripped apart,
Tortured minds and shattered hearts
When the war was done, it was not over
Veterans left to wonder why
Kids who cannot laugh or cry
Life and treasure gone to waste
Once more the human race disgraced
There is no beauty in the bloody sand
There is no beauty in the gunman's hand
The rusting weapons in the sun
No real victory no not one
Children's bodies torn apart
Bodies fading in the sun
Gaping wounds ripping at the heart
Cities smashed to smithereens
Generals' crazy tricked-out dreams
There is no beauty in blood-soaked sand
There is no beauty in the gunman's hand
There is no beauty in rusting weapons in the sun
There's no beauty in a war not done
When the war was done
It was not over
