I watched the PBS 4th of July celebration this year and spent the entire time crying tears of joy because it was the first time in 7 years I thought I was seeing a diverse community of American patriots and their families celebrating as our nation’s founding fathers must have after they fought King George and won freedom from the authoritarian rule of Great Britain 250 years ago.
So much for hope…I couldn’t have been more wrong! Here are just a few of the headlines that greeted me on July 5th:
