There are quite a few reports today that Ukraine used HIMARS missiles to hit a building in occupied Skadovsk, which is on the Black Sea coast in Kherson Oblast. The reports all indicate that this was a high-value target of Russian officials and that several were killed.
One report indicated the officials were not military, but FSB. More info, hopefully, will be forthcoming.

This is the opposite of a soldier throwing himself on a grenade.

It has been my opinion that one of the goals of Ukraine’s offensive across the Dnipro near Kherson is to suppress the Russian artillery pressure on the city, which has been intense.
x In Photos: "They can't sleep anymore and they scream at night."
Nearly a year since its liberation, Kherson is enduring nearly daily attacks from Russian forces. With no end in sight, parents are trying to decide how get their kids to safety.

Just as the drone is launched, the missile enters from stage left.

At last report, the “butter” factory was churning with explosions.
Don’t hate me. I just report this stuff.
x The governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, announced an alleged attack by Ukrainian drones on a butter factory in the city of Sudzha. Russia claims that 3 cluster munitions were allegedly dropped. There were no casualties but damage to the enterprise. pic.twitter.com/cB8nZdUZ3D — NOELREPORTS 🇪🇺 🇺🇦 (@NOELreports) November 9, 2023
For all of Russia’s military ineptitude, they do manage to improve and adjust in places.
x Last week, Russian forces used an Iskandr SRBM missile to target the UAF 128th Brigade and potential CP during an award ceremony, killing experienced artillery teams. /2 pic.twitter.com/a5V59BLosR — Dara Massicot (@MassDara) November 9, 2023
This gathering is a fleeting event, or time-sensitive target, so the Russians either had foreknowledge of it, or observed it by drone footage and had the ability to quickly call an Iskandr strike in - which is a CAA-level asset /3 I haven’t seen Russian forces strike a time-sensitive target like this with Iskandr SRBMs, correct me if I’ve missed one. Usually they are used them to target fixed sites (buildings, villages, bridges etc), because they want them to arrive on target, meaning, /4 ..last week's strike against the 128th means they feel confident enough in their targeting loop to launch this type of missile against a time-sensitive target. It suggests improvement in their recon-strike loop. /5
Another interesting thread. This one suggests that Putin can’t stop the war because then he would have to deliver on domestic issues, which is like waiting for a snowy day in hell.
x 1/ Does Vladimir Putin actually want an end to the war in Ukraine? An interesting commentary by the Russian political scientist Vladimir Pastukhov suggests that Putin is "addicted to war like a drug" and that continuing it indefinitely is essential for the regime's survival. ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/Jopt9kofYy — ChrisO_wiki (@ChrisO_wiki) November 9, 2023
Everybody is a LOTR fan.
x More accurate translation:
"The situation in Krynki - It feels like elves were delivered a truckload of FPV drones. I'm done.”
Rusnya is crying because of FPV drones. They sometimes calls Ukrainian elves because Russians are orcs😄 pic.twitter.com/pd6W8ke8DX — Getty (@region776) November 9, 2023
That’s a shame about your fancy schmancy air defense system.

It’s also a shame about your TOS-1 thermobaric MLRS. TOS must stand for Totally Obliterated Soldiers.
x You gotta give the Russian arms industry what it deserves: they have a unique ability to create vehicles that guarantee Ivan is not coming back home, as it is the case with this TOS-1. As if the tanks with survival rates approaching 0 were not enough. pic.twitter.com/b0UkMN0h92 — Dmitri (@wartranslated) November 9, 2023

Not unlike the Winged Victory of Samothrace.
