I/P Is Israel losing the PR War? [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2023-11-09

On October 7th Hamas launched a vicious, brutal, and above all preplanned terrorist attack on Israel. 1,406+/- Deaths were recorded. 4,500*/- Injuries 241 Hostages were taken More Jews were killed on October 7th than on any day since the Holocaust. The entire world was shocked and disgusted by this attack. Everyone agrees that Israel has the right to defend itself.

However, the rest of the world knows [no matter how much our impassioned pro-Israel Kossacks want us to believe] that nothing happens in a vacuum.

The events since then have been discussed everywhere ad infinitum, and I am not going through that all again.

The status in Israel and Palestine at the time of writing this diary is as follows.

Gaza

Northern Gaza has been isolated by complete encirclement by the Israeli military.

Around 1.5 million Palestinians have been internally displaced out of a total population of 2.1 million.

Israel completely controls all requirements for life [or lack thereof] in the Gaza Strip.

West Bank including Eastern Jerusalem

There are around 750, 000 illegal settlers in the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem controlling around 28% of the land.

There are around 650 closed control points for Palestinians, movement is nearly impossible.

Destruction of infrastructure is ongoing at an increased pace.

International Reaction

The US states complete support for Israel in public, however, the President indicated that the Israeli government is not listening to him in a recent answer to a question, it's not as if the US has any means of insisting. Even support at the public level is eroding.

The rest of the world doesn’t really matter to the Israeli government as long as the US remains onside, but opinion is changing almost hourly.

Whatever crimes have been committed by both Hamas and Israel no doubt will be argued by lawyers for years to come.

If the Israeli military after de-Hamasifying Norther Gaza then heads South, well, that will clear any doubts.

Just a thought.
