GMA: St. Olaf College had Highest Voter Turnout in 2020 [1]

In 2020, my daughter Linnea and a fellow student lead the Saint Olaf college voter registration and voter turnout drive. They had the highest turnout of any college or institution in the country! 96% of eligible voters registered, and 88% voted!

Three years later, and I'm still floored. I don't think my daughter realizes the magnitude of her accomplishment. The voter outreach program consisted of just her and one fellow student. They had a faculty rep who they met with biweekly to clear their plans, but they invented their program out of whole cloth. They did things like borrow a golf cart and run around campus with a bullhorn shouting and handing out fliers with instructions and maps for voter registration and again for the polling places. They arranged rides to polling places, set up a table in the cafeteria with voter registration forms, etc. etc. etc.
Importantly, they kept a very strict non-partizan rule for their communications, not endorsing any specific candidate, party, or initiative.
In a nation of 360 million people, they had the highest turnout in the country!
