While having burgers & brews with my husband ahead of coming home to watch the local Election Day returns here in Seattle, I took a moment to glance through HuffPost and came across an item therein by crime reporter Pocharapon Neammanee: Texas Republican Charged with Child Pornography Possession Hours Before Election (pardon my lack of a link to same at this time, but the item is easy enough to find at their website or via their app). Neeammanee notes in this story that one Brad Benson, who is on the ballot for a city council position in Granville, was arrested on two felony counts of this crime only yesterday, mentioning of course that it was just the day before Election Day.
I have to give the local GOP some credit here since they were very quick to withdraw their support from Benson once news of his arrest came out.
This is what they posted in their statement on Facebook: "Based on the limited information available, it is our understanding that a serious sex related offense may be involved. If these allegations are true, there is no way the party would ever condone such activity." After following up with local law enforcement and confirming the seriousness of the charges brought against Benson, they issued a subsequent statement unanimously withdrawing their support from his candidacy.
This is the question I have, though, for the Republican Party of Hood County: Why then, oh why the f**k does your party still support Donald J. Trump as the presumptive nominee for the US presidency?
