When I go out walking, I am alert to movement and anything that catches my eye. I never know what’s gong to be brought to my attention.
When out on a walk, I saw an otter!
Make that two!!
One did the ‘dog shake’ to get rid of excess water.
The otter kept it up for several shakes. Did you notice the tongue out? see tongue sticking out closer
Then they were joined by a third!!!
This one wanted some contact time.
As cute and inquisitive as otters are, raccoons are not far behind. They wade in the water squishing the mud with their paws looking for frogs or other delectable food items.
They were way across the water at a place called Yesler Swamp.
With a little zoom help, you can see them much better.
The three stuck together most of the time.
Then they started to disappear one by one.
On another walk, Ms. JG spotted some raccoons next to a road. By the time I got my camera out, three of the raccoons had scurried down the ditch to the left. When we got to the location where they disappeared, we saw that there must have been a den dug into the bank. All five were nowhere to be seen.
Others have posted photos of this caterpillar. I thought that I’d add some fun facts, some of which were new to me. I also added a photo of what the moth stage looks like.
I rarely use a photo that I didn’t take, but since I have never seen the Isabella Tiger Moth, I did a Google search and found this.
What have you seen or heard lately? Now that we’re between Halloween and Thanksgiving, we will have late fall or early winter weather. Does weather affect the amount of time you get outside? Give an answer or ask a question. Hope you weren’t spooked too badly and you will soon be very thankful.
Remember to ‘Fall back’ with your clock Sunday morning.
