Acapulco needs help, not hype [1]

There is a post currently on the recommended (trending?) list depicting an apocalyptic picture of Acapulco after the city was ravaged by hurricane Otis. There are two problems with this post. First, it lacks action links. If you are anywhere in Mexico, contact the local collection center. Items most needed for donation are

Bottled water

Personal and feminine hygiene products

Diapers

Baby formula

Non-perishable and canned food

Clothing, blankets

Cleaning cloths and towels

First aid kits

Powdered detergent

Latex gloves

Household cleaning products, toilet paper

Pet food, brooms, rakes and mops

(Source: https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/how-to-help-guerrero-in-the-aftermath-of-hurricane-otis/ , links to collection center locations are there)

How can you help if you cannot donate to one of these centers or get on the ground in the hurricane-stricken area?

Donate to Mexican Red Cross: https://www.cruzrojamexicana.org.mx/causa/detalle/65

The next link allows you to donate to single or several charities, including Salvation Army (I don’t like them): https://www.pledge.to/help-hurricane-otis-victims

Direct Relief is already delivering supplies to the state of Guerrero: https://www.directrelief.org/2023/10/direct-relief-commits-200000-for-hurricane-otis-response-as-mexico-reels-from-category-5-storm/

Convoy of Hope asks for donations specifically for Otis victims (this charity is also religiously affiliated, but their work is legit): https://convoyofhope.org/donate/disaster-services/hurricane-otis-2023/
