I Hold Gaza In My Heart [1]

I just wanted to say this because it is gnawing on me.

I want no one in Gaza to be hurt or to suffer.

I know all of the politics and causes and provocations on both sides and I understand them.

But….

I have been hungry. I hate hunger.

I have been in pain. I hate pain.

I have been sick. I want every sick person to receive care.

I have seen loved ones suffering and I was unable to help. I want no one to watch helplessly as a loved one suffers.

Back when Katrina was bearing down on New Orleans I could not sleep for visions of the massive storm approaching over the ocean as a beautiful young woman standing on a stone wall was looking out at it helplessly.

I feel a dread and fear for Gaza.

I hope the worst does not happen. I want no one to suffer.
