SPAMbot Gone Wild [1]

I started getting these emails around 3 days ago in my gmail. The senders all seem to be from gmail addresses. Marked them as spam and after a few hours Google caught on and successfully filtered them out, but they keep coming every few minutes — the count is up to 296!

I have three questions: does somebody really think that I’m going to fall for the 300th message when I’ve ignored the previous 299; if the scammer is skilled enough to automatically generate names and accounts, why didn’t they make the names match up; and if the senders are actually gmails, why hasn’t Google shut them down?
