Georgia Fake Electors Don't Get Their Trials Moved To Federal Court. And Neither Does Jeff Clark. [1]

Looks like the Georgia fake electors will not get their trials moved to federal court. And neither does poor old Jeffrey Clark. The three fake electors who tried to move their cases to federal court are Georgia Republian Chairman David Shafer, State Senator Shawn Still, and my favorite of this bunch, former Coffee County Republican Chairwoman Cathy Latham.
A federal judge has denied requests made by Trump co-defendants Cathy Latham, David Shafer and state Senator Shawn Still, to move their prosecutions in the Fulton County election interference case to federal court. Judge Steve C. Jones was not swayed by arguments made by the trio that they had acted as federal officials at the time they voted for Donald Trump as electors for the Republican party in Georgia in December 2020, and therefore were entitled to have their cases moved to federal court. "The Court first determines that presidential electors are not federal officers," Jones wrote in all three orders. Judge Jones concluded that party-appointed state electors who cast an electoral ballot are not tantamount to federal officers. "By design, therefore, presidential electors cannot be individuals who hold a place of trust or profit or authority from the United States and thus, do not meet the office of trust category of being a federal officer," Jones wrote. "Additionally, the role of presidential electors is to meet in their respective states, cast their ballots, and transmit them to Congress…There is nothing about these actions or the text of the Constitution that gives a presidential elector authority or command over any federal activities. Accordingly, including presidential electors within the category of federal officers is inconsistent with the plain meaning of the word 'officer.'"
Most legal analysts were like, “Duh! These clowns are not federal officers! First up, electors are not federal officers. Secondly, they were not even REAL electors!
The thinking was that if this got to federal court that the jury pool would be all of Georgia and not just Fulton County. In other words, maybe the jury would have someone like racist Cathy Latham who would pull a jury nullification. Also, if Trump wins next year, could Trump make the Georgia case disappear if it was federal? I’m not sure.
But it was very stupid for these three assholes to try this ploy. Look what happened to Mark Meadows. He could make the argument that he was a federal officer, but the judge who ruled that Meadows could not move to federal court stated that trying to interfer in a state election is not one of the duties of the president’s chief of staff.
As for would be attorney general in waiting Jeffrey Clark, the judge told him that his ass could stay in GA too.
The charges against Clark are related to a letter he drafted and submitted to top-ranking Justice Department officials in December 2020, which was addressed to Georgia legislative leaders and claimed the department had "significant concerns" about the outcome of the state's presidential election. The proposed letter encouraged the state lawmakers to convene the Georgia General Assembly to take action regarding the state's presidential electors, falsely suggesting that there were two competing slates of legitimate presidential electors in Georgia: one supporting Mr. Biden and one supporting Trump.
With Mr. Hill deciding to flip and not having the ability to move her case, I expect lots of pressure to be put on Cathy Latham. She’s the “retired public school teacher” who decided to break into the Coffee County Board of Elections and copy voting data from Dominion machines. Hill was her contact with Sidney Powell, and he was there at the time of the break in.
As for Shafer, he is claiming some kind of immunity from prosecution because “Trump told him to do it.” Yeah, The “I was only following orders” routine worked so well for Nazi officials after World War II. Shafer looks just like every other corrupt Southern politician, so I bet he doesn’t flip — at least for now — because of his sterling defense strategy.
In other words, he probably is stupid enough to think that Fox puts out real news too.
I have no idea what Still will do. He’s a high muckity muck in the Georgia GOP. He raised a ton of cash for the Georgia GOP, and he stated this about being a fake elector:
According to his Candidate Connection survey for Ballotpedia in 2022, his "proudest moment was serving as a Republican nominee for Presidential Elector pledged to Donald Trump and Mike Pence in 2020." He also listed "election integrity" as one of the state's greatest challenges over the next decade and listed "safer elections" as the legacy he would like to leave.
I’m thinking maybe he is a true believer, so it makes him a fanatic.
Anyway, more baby steps for the judicial system.
