Why Is DeJoy Still Dismantling Sorting Machines? [1]

During my trip to the post office in Medford, Oregon today, I learned that DeJoy is busy dismantling the local letter sorting machines even while his representatives are publicly denying that this is happening. The plan, as I understand it, is for all mail to be routed to the huge letter-sorting facility in Portland before being sent on to the recipient.
This means a letter post in Medford and sent to a Medford address will travel the 600 mile round trip to Portland before reaching its intended recipient. Since most of Oregon votes by mail, this will have a huge impact on the efficiency of our elections.
At the public meeting held to explain the impending changes back in August, DeJoy’s representatives declined to answer questions, stating that questions should be made via email, according to a local political blogger—the only person to report on this mess.
DeJoy justifies his consolidation moves with the all-purpose “efficiency” excuse, but I fail to understand how making all mail from ALL over the state travel up to Portland from as far away as 450 miles will do anything but slow the mail. This, of course, will hurt those who rely on the mail for prescription delivery. It will also, I speculate, add tremendously to the amount of pollution spewed by the mail trucks.
I don’t understand why Biden did not get rid of DeJoy. Why does his particular brand of evil still have license to operate?
