Desperate for reelection, San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced on Tuesday that she was taking a page from Florida and rolling out drug testing to welfare recipients.
You know, like Florida did a few years ago.
We all know how that ended. Blocked by a federal judge after 4 months, the program cost Florida at least $45,000 more in paying for the testing than any savings achieved by cutting benefits for the 2.6% of welfare. The ACLU summarized that debacle well.
