Missouri Students Crown Trans Student Homecoming Queen (Old-Ish News) [1]

“Last week, student Tristan Young was named homecoming queen at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, reportedly beating out four other candidates for the title.

This is the second time since 2015 that the school has elected a transgender student as their homecoming queen – the first being Landon Patterson.”



This article focuses a bit more on the… Negative in several sections, that being all the transphobes throwing their hatred at innocents as they do but I figured I’d share a positive event in trans news that happened. Even if it did happen about… 4 days ago but I didn’t see anything on Kos about it from a quick search so here it is. I didn’t necessarily agree with other more mainstream articles out there centering on the “criticism” this is facing so I decided on the link above.



For a bit more context, it seems like the students are the ones that vote specifically.

However this event was also featured on a Beau video with a more positive slant which I prefer. The general idea being that the generation growing closer to being able to vote are listening to the hateful antics of current conservatives much less. That’s just the bread though, maybe not even the butter. This is just a quick diary to get some positive trans news out there because I didn’t see much of… Anything in that regard on Kos in recent (search) history so sometimes you take what you can get.



(Also based on various writing unless I’m wrong, the student does appear to still call herself Tristan. If there is a correction to be made there I will make it posthaste.)
