In WAYR?, I note what I’m reading and comment...you note what you are reading and comment. Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books…

I am reading:

Wild Seed by Octavia Butler - Still trying to figure out all of the powers of the body snatcher Doro and the oracle/goddess Anyanwu as they travel to various lands in the late 17th century. Still haven’t discerned a plot but some gorgeous prose in here.

“Spare me your mythology,” Doro said, “and your righteous indignation.”...”At least we cannibals are honest about what we do,” Doro continued. “We don’t pretend as your slavers do to be acting for the benefit of our victims’ souls. We don’t tell ourselves we’ve caught them to teach them organized religion.”

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King - My third time trying to read this and I am all in now. There’s a distinct section for the memoir and a distinct section for the craft with considerable overlap.
