I love what Taylor Swift did and hope she keeps it up!
As big as Taylor is on social media and elsewhere (huge). Selena Gomez may well be even more huge, at least on Instagram, where she is No. 4 most followed — behind only Instagram itself, Ronaldo and Messi. So she’s the biggest non-soccer individual in the world on Instagram, ahead of all of the Jenners and the Kardashians, Ariana Grande and Taylor herself.
And she is co-chair of When We All Vote, launched Michelle Obama in 2018, along with fellow Co-Chairs Stephen Curry, Becky G, Selena Gomez, Tom Hanks, H.E.R., Liza Koshy, Jennifer Lopez, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monae, Chris Paul, Megan Rapinoe, Shonda Rhimes, Bretman Rock, Kerry Washington, and Rita Wilson. She posted the image below on Monday, Voter Registration Day. (Note — I tried to embed, but don’t know if the image will appear here.)
I’m a big fan of Only Murders in the Building, her show with my fellow boomers, Steve Martin and Martin Short. Between them, I’m hoping Selena can mobilize the GenZ’s and Millennials, and maybe the old guys can peel off some of our generation’s sadly turned-to-the-right members. (It all looked so different in 1968!).
