I saw and saved a lot of what went on during BLM and finally took the time to sort and resize some of the pics . . .

Much of the media explains BLM 20 as a tale of one side v’s another when it was much more as story of lots of people pulling in the same direction.

There were some flare ups and some criminal damage after George Floyd was brutally killed but black civic leaders and activists were on it to prevent and calm the reaction.

Support for peaceful BLM demonstrations spread rapidly.

People didn’t bring bricks they brought placards.

People made it personal.

Allies just kept on appearing.

Meanwhile BLM worked on the messaging.

While the media talked up a race war black activists kept stepping between the lines.

BLM messaging went urban.

The messaging was consistent.

And the messaging was inspiring.

Efforts to keep things calm in the face of media and far right pressure were put into place.

The use of art as resistance spread to homes and gardens.

However, the hostility kept coming from a minority of those deceived by media efforts to press a false equivalence between a peaceful BLM and raging white supremacists.

It became very obvious that efforts were being made to undermine BLM by vandals and hooligans - none of them black or even standing close to a black person.

The use of semi-lethal rounds against demonstrators was intense and young black women took to turning their backs because they were being targeted in the face by police, which leaves awful wounds.

Sections of the media talked up wild claims about cities set alight by BLM while ignoring what was very obviously happening on the ground.

Despite this intimidation the ‘kids’ continued to gather, planning while learning about how to avoid direct confrontations and protect themselves.

Sticking semi in front of lethal makes the munitions no less lethal or maiming.
