Oops again.

x Fascinating stories of emergency missile dumps are becoming routine in Russia.

On August 11, a Russian missile exploded in Tula region. It turned out to be a hypersonic complex "Kinzhal" worth 250 million rubles (~$2.6 million). The Russians "lost" this missile on August 11 during an early morning attack on an airfield in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Then one of the MiG-31Ks simply "dropped" the missile allegedly due to an abnormal system malfunction. By all accounts, the missile was not even searched for. By habit, the military reported on the successful destruction of all targets and wrote it off, but on September 12, Tula agronomists questioned Konashenkov's words. A tractor driver noticed a strange object sticking out of the ground almost two kilometers away from Biriulevka village, Russia. The elite of the region security services and the manufacturer's representatives were immediately called on the spot of the X-47M2 falling. After inspection, Kolomna machine-building design Bureau engineers came to the conclusion that it was impossible to transport it from Tula and reassemble the hypersonic superweapon, so it was decided to blow up the remains of the missile. Seven buses and a couple of hundred military men were needed to evacuate the locals. They were not allowed to take their pets with them. A similar story happened in the same Tula region on August 26, 2023."Blind" safety aerodynamic cap of the nozzle block of the boost solid propellant stage of the Kh-47M2 (9-C-7760) "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missile fell near the village of Mazalki in the Aleksin district of the Tula region. According to Russian Telegram channels, the fall of the missile element was caused by the fact that the launch from the suspension unit of the MiG-31K carrier aircraft against one of the AFU facilities in Khmelnytskyi or Kyiv region was carried out from the area of Yasnogorsk.

This video shows a pedestrian crossing the street in occupied Luhansk and getting run over by a Russian military truck. The caption on the video says it’s a man but it was a girl and she died.

What is astonishing is that the truck keeps going and nobody else stops to check on the pedestrian. They all just drive around him.

Unbelievable.

They got drunk and played around with a grenade. Guess what happened.

According to local authorities, the explosion occurred in the courtyard of a private house in the city of Rossosh.

All victims are military personnel of the same unit: a battalion commander, a deputy commander for weapons, a deputy for technical parts and two drivers. It is also reported that they were drinking together and then quarreled. Three of them died on the spot. Two more participants in the feast were injured but survived.

Andriivka and Klishchiivka don’t have much strategic value in the grand scheme of things, but this is a good reason for continuing to press the fight there. Russia’s 72nd Motor Rifle Brigade was wiped out, including three battalion commanders and the brigade’s intelligence chief, after being surrounded and cut off. Those who weren’t killed were taken prisoner.

x The events around Andriivka are even more devastating for the Russian army than anticipated.

Diamonds are not forever.

This is from the Financial Times:

G7 governments are expected to announce a ban on imports of Russian diamonds that will come into force next January in a move that will divide the $74bn global market for the precious stones. Belgian officials said on Friday that it expected an announcement from the world’s seven largest advanced economies within three weeks that would “fence off the G7 market” from Russian diamonds, a timeframe confirmed by a senior European official. G7 leaders agreed to restrict trade and use of Russian diamonds at its Hiroshima summit in May, including by using tracing technologies. They aim to clamp down on an important sector of the Russian economy that has not been comprehensively hit by wide-ranging international sanctions.

Powerful images of the legacy of war.

This dude will be commanding Russia’s army in Ukraine by next year.
