PWB - Ask Amy! [1]

Hi Peeps one and all,

It’s me, Amy, here to answer your questions on topics large and small… like this one:

Dear Ask Amy,

I’m sure that you will find my problem silly, given all the existential threats flying around, but I really need your help. Here’s the sitch: last week we went to a famous barbeque spot in Nashville. We were happy to get Corn-Meal-Fried Catfish! BUT — there were no hush puppies to be had.

Just seems wrong. And everyday I obsess. Can you help me to get over this?

Food Hound

Dear Hound,

These things have sinister beginnings.

Wait...WHAT??? I can tell from your pen name that you love to eat. BUT PUPPIES???? I don’t care how quiet they are; it is WRONG to eat puppies!!!

Update: Ok, I feel much calmer now that my hoomins explained to me that hush puppies are just deep-fried cornbread. Still, hush puppies are to be avoided! Think of their history: their very name says the truth: Created to toss to pups to shut them up! Pfft! Our voices are important and we won’t be silenced thank you very much! But…. would I investigate if one or two were tossed my way? Probably!

Amy

Dear Ask Amy,

My hoomin parents seem very upset these days about something called poly-ticks. That does sound pretty scary, right? “many ticks” can’t be good for anyone! Especially me!! What can we do?

Thanks,

Scaredy Pup

Dear Pup,

I am familiar with this problem. My hoomin parents are also very unhappy about poly-ticks. Right now they don’t like something called “impeach”. I don’t understand this at all. I like peach ice cream very much!

But my hoomin Mom is writing lots of letters to people who are “registered voters” who haven’t voted for awhile. She gets names, addresses and suggested letters from a website called Vote Forward. She thinks this is important and hopes many people are doing the same. votefwd.org

Good Boy!

Maybe your hoomin family will feel better about things if they do the same. Good Luck!

Amy

Dear Amy,

Where I live hoomins are fighting something called the “pumpkin spice wars”. They say this happens every year as Fall nears. It seems silly to me but nonetheless here’s how it seems to go: Some hoomins love pumpkin spice and want it everywhere, and others think it’s nasty and contrived and want it nowhere.

I pretend to remain neutral because of my principles. But the truth is I have no idea what pumpkin spice is. Can you help?

Lost in Spice

Dear Lost,

Not totally sure, but I saw a hoomin protesting with a sign that read “Stop Premature Pumpkin Spicing!”. So maybe it has something to do with hoomin coitus? If that’s the case, I recommend that you stay far away from the issue and remain Swiss-style-neutral!

Amy

Dear Amy,

We know that you live up in New England. What are you doing to prepare for Hurricane Lee?

Some Concerned PWB peeps

Dear Some,

My hoomins seem to be concerned and say that they are battening down the hatches. I don’t know what this means. For one thing, I don’t think that we have anything called a hatch (unless it is some kind of hat — I myself have some of those). Even if we did have hatches, how would hitting them with a bat help? If a hurricane is a bad thing, I will help by bringing my toys inside and barking at the wind.

Thanks Everyone, and keep those questions coming!

Amy
