I don’t trust him. Do you? He hasn’t earned it. Every time it looks like he’s doing or going to do the right thing, you find out there’s a hook or he really didn’t mean it. He’s very calculating. What’s he up to.
In Mark Sumner’s post from yesterday, Romney prepares for post-Senate career by showing he was no hero, it clear that Mittens is no hero despite his effort to paint himself as one. He wants credit for telling McConnell about what Senator King passed on(WTF Senator King?). But he failed to publicly warn anyone else.
By the way, Senator Angus King, to our knowledge failed to warn anyone else either. So Romney is throwing him under the bus with McConnell (as well as himself).
So it begs the question. Why is Romney doing this now?
The White Knight. A mythological creature.
In my humble opinion (IMHO), Senator Mitt Romney, despite his public announcement that he’s retiring, actually wants to run for one more office, but not run in the primaries. I think he’s attempting to set himself up as the White Knight coming in at the GOP Presidential Convention to save the GOP from the convicted criminal Donald Trump. Claiming, that unlike everyone who ran in the primaries, he stood up to Trump (NOT,see image in Mark’s post from the link above). He’ll give a speech that since he was the last standard bearer to run against the Democratic Party, he alone can take on President Biden (and VP Harris).
A White Knight
via wiki; A white knight is a mythological figure and literary stock character. They are portrayed alongside a black knight as diametric opposites. A white knight usually represents a heroic warrior fighting against evil. The term "white knight" is used in modern-day parlance to mean any kind of savior, although it is also specifically used in a business context to describe a person or corporation that saves another company from a hostile takeover. The depiction of a morally pure white person and a nonwhite antagonist has been criticized as a modern use of the white knight trope that perpetuates racist attitudes
In Romney’s case there are two evil antagonist he’ll be targeting. The criminal Trump that the party needs to dump. But who’s the nonwhite antagonist the GOP want to run against? Who might be Romney’s bigoted target? Gee, who might that be?
