How should House and Senate Dems respond to this travesty of a mockery of a sham impeachment? [1]

My short answer is that I don’t know.

We know that Republicans have been trying to muddy the waters by attaching a whiff of (nonexistent) scandal to Joe Biden for the last couple of years, — and that effort will be amplified on steroids in the coming months, aided and abetted by the mainstream media (to say nothing of the 24-7 messaging from right wing propaganda rags and outlets) . Because they’re “just asking questions,” don’t ya know? And we also know that this concerted, nonstop effort over months and months will undoubtedly persuade millions of Americans outside of the rabid, treasonous, rule of law and democracy-hating MAGA base that there must be something there given the amount of attention that this farce will get. Indeed, there already seems to be some polling evidence suggesting that the GOP has already succeeded on this front to a certain degree.

All of this, in turn, could easily endanger Biden’s reelection bid, to say nothing of turning the impeachment process into a partisan joke which future Administrations (and the public) won’t take seriously and thus doing massive damage to Congress’s ability to hold future lawless Presidents accountable.

So how do Democrats respond? Democrats probably won’t be able to stop the muddying that will seep into / contaminate our political landscape with staggeringly false / disingenuous / corrupt crap. But I would like to think we could make inroads on the discrediting of these treasonous, democracy-hating, power-abusing, corrupt scumbags and their lies. Besides and well beyond a steady stream of angry press releases, speeches on the House and Senate floor, and remarks on CSPAN and the Sunday talk show circuit. Some possibilities:

Boycotting any and every impeachment hearing. Either not showing up at all or leaving en masse as soon as the hearings are called to order. Each and every time. Have a series of hearings in the Senate: Focused on the OSU wrestling team Sex trafficking with underage girls in Florida Highlighting the efforts of these traitors to overthrow a democratic election, even after the violent coup attempt Revisiting Trump’s impeachments, with a focus on the charges and facts A deep Senate dive into each the 4 indictments and 91 felony counts A hearing focused on the greatest hits montage of MTG’s / Paul Gosar’s anti-semitic / secession-loving rants Hearings explicitly focused on highlighting and debunking the hypocrisy / lies A hearing focused on the definition of high crimes and misdemeanors Making MTG the unhinged face of this entire effort. Throwing any and every single procedural obstacle to delay / obstruct the House majority from getting things done. (The House minority is typically much, much less equipped to so so than its Senate counterparts but there may be some unused tools.

None of these seem overly satisfying to me so I would welcome the suggestions / ideas / thoughts of others. I pray to g-d that Democrats have a coordinated , sustained, and well-thought out response to all of this absurdity. I’m so sick of Democrats always playing defense and trying to respond to absolute nuttiness,.
