Once again, Denys Davidov has posted videos on Telegram of a bovavna (explosion) in Crimea. There is no word about the cause of the pipeline fire, but, dang! that’s one impressive inferno.
The S-400 radar system, if destroyed, may be even more significant. It’s just about the most capable, longest range, anti-aircraft system which Russia has. It’s hugely expensive. If the Ukrainians destroyed it, Russians would be less capable of detecting and shooting down Ukrainian cruise missiles and aircraft.
Which brings us to the reason why the armed forces of Ukraine would attempt to destroy this system. It’s the opening move in a vicious attack on something really important in Crimea: First you destroy or degrade you enemy’s ability to detect and shoot down incoming missiles. Then you launch a complex attack with multiple missiles at some high value target. The last time they did that, the targets were the ships in dry dock in Sevastopol.
If the S-400 was put out of action last night, expect some violent Ukrainian attack on an important military target. Or maybe the high-value target was the pipeline?
The targeted system was located at the military base at Evpatoria, and Denys has images of it on his Telegram channel, link is below. Telegram allows videos which YouTube does not, plus it is not The Social Media Formerly Known As Twitter.
