As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

Happy Friday! I’m home today and Bit works, so I’ll be about. Nizz has wound care, but they come to the house. Bit is off on Saturday, so we’ll be going for groceries then. September is half way over already, how the heck did that happen??

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I bought a thing to keep track of appointments and my sugar levels and everything upcoming in the next few months. It’s called “The Hero’s Journal”. It turns your days into a quest, in my case, to beat the big “C” boss, and improve my overall health. So I’ve been setting goals with that, and trying to keep more on task. Today, on my Thursday, a nap was written in, because of wound care and the schedule around that. Other days I have goals like, eating a meatless lunch or doing some seated exercises, etc. In the notes I write in changes or spikes to FND symptoms, asthma attacks, etc. So at the end of the 90 days I’ll have a better idea of where I am, and how I am doing, as well as, I hope, making some progress.

I like it because it’s a 90 day commitment, and if I decide it doesn’t work for me, I end it there. If it does, maybe I’ll get the full planner next time, or maybe another 90 day depending what’s going on with everything at that point. Oh, and you can also color it if you want to. I’m not right now, my hands are hurting too much to do that most days, but it’s an option in the future.

I had two seizures on Wednesday, then Thursday I had wound care and broken up sleep. Hopefully, that doesn’t lead to more seizures on Friday, so keep your fingers crossed. I need to get some things done today, but I’m going to take it slow and try to rest, because tomorrow is groceries, and I don’t want to be completely worn out for that either.

I often use spoon theory, because it’s something that’s used to easily explained to people who don’t really understand living with chronic illnesses. Sometimes, depending on whom I am talking to, I use spell slots, or hit points, and those are more fantasy role play terms, perhaps more appropriately used in my hero’s quest. But here is a simple explanation of spoons, by the person who created spoon theory.

Caffeine is often listed as one of my ‘allies’ on my daily journal pages. Caffeine helps me get through the day and gives me an extra spoon or two. I don’t drink coffee, but I thought many of you would find this interesting.

It’s impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
