Upon the board, a battlefield of minds,
Two rivals, cunning, in their royal guise.
In shadows cast by pieces in their lines,
A game of chess, where strategy applies.
The black king stands precariously, in dire straits,
With but one move, his fate sealed in the breeze,
Yet white queen, like a tempest, lies in wait,
To bring about her regal expertise.
With grace and poise, she sweeps across the square,
Her path unblocked, her victory in sight.
The black king trembles, caught in her snare,
As darkness falls, and day turns into night.
After the dreaded move, black awaits its fate,
Having but one move to counter the checkmate.
All the King’s horses and all the King’s men,
Cannot but prevent the inevitable end.
