Cops love to kill people, the war on drugs is useless and prisons are run horribly [1]

I was a victim of the drug war. Luckily, I did not experience the horrendous injustice of being imprisoned due to that. I did lose my dream job for something that had happened over 10 years before. My background check was actually incorrect. Instead of me having a successfully completed DIVERSION for a misdemeanor charge (was NOT convicted, no convictions on record) ended up being a felony. So I was technically a convicted felon for awhile. Sure it got “fixed” but my dream job didn’t care. A lot of my dreams died that day. Oh well, I’ve moved on. I was lucky, because I didn’t end up in prison. If I was black, I would probably still be in prison or on probation or something.
I used to work in a shithole prison. The lies that place spouts. Everyday I walked under a banner that had some bullshit promise to “REHABILITATE”. The guards all though mental health was a joke, and many would voice that opinion.
They would tell us, the ones with Masters degrees in social work or therapy or something similar, that we were a “waste of time” and a “joke”. There was a man with seriously debilitating schizophrenia who was wasting away 23 hours a day in a box, and his charges were for selling Marijuana. Yeah that seems justified. How the fuck was that court date? Of course, without a doubt, he was manipulated to plead guilty and have some bullshit “deal”. He ended up in a box 23 hours a day in the “mental health” part of the prison. Does anyone think locking up severely mentally ill people in a box 23 hours a day, alone, is a good idea? Does that help anyone? Does that rehabilitate anyone? No. It was a fucking joke. A total lie. Didn’t rehabilitate SHIT. Made me sick. Treating people like that. When most of them had NON violent offenses. Yes some had assault and weapons charges, but they also had unmedicated, undiagnosed severe mental health problems. Since our system does not give two shits about mental health, of course the large majority of these inmates did not have the resources, the access, or the knowledge to obtain help. I would have loved to see anyone of those court dates or trials. Honestly, I bet most were just manipulated to agree to “a great deal”. YEAH RIGHT.
Bryan Stevenson is a hero of mine. He created the Equal Justice Initiative, wrote an amazing book and a movie was made based off of that book. They estimate 1 out of 9 executions is of an innocent person. WOW. That statistic made me sick. Trump recently had a 40-year old black man executed for something he did when he was 18. A Latino woman is currently extremely close for being executed for a crime she didn’t commit. Why BTK, the Carr Brothers, the Son of Sam, the Green River Killer, The golden state killer, Cullen, Williams, Bernardo, ALL ALIVE. Yeah that seems just. Pretty fucking sickening.
Think of how many black people, especially men are sitting on death row after being convicted by ALL WHITE, racist juries. Makes me sick. The sheriff that botched the investigation and blindly accused the main character of murder, ended up still getting re-elected until he retired. Because apparently, most people are okay with having a racist sheriff railroading innocent people and ruining not only their lives, but the lives of their loved ones. I can’t imagine the rage.
Or the guy who was gunned down in his sleep due to a WRONG no-knock raid. That’s not the first person that has been shot in bed, as most of us with a pulse know. NO CHARGES for the police who killed those people.
And this country is A OK with a teenager, equipped with illegal guns (however the gun laws were so confusing concerning crossing state lines, even the people in power didn’t have a clue how to charge, FUCKING PATHETIC) he is okay to shoot 3 people, kill two, and injure one. With zero consequences. After he and his family laughed their asses off since he was released from prison before the trial due to all the racist trump lovers donating money. They smiled for the camera. After strapping up, crossing state lines, waving at cops and waving his gun at the tanks, murdered two people, and it’s all good! Totally fine! SICKENING.
Cops are also allowed to kill people who have license to carry permits. They can shoot them in cold blood while their daughter and wife are in the car. They can shoot them 8 seconds after pulling them over. And get away with it.
Cops are also allowed to maim mentally-ill people, including children, and have no charges pressed as well. Because hey, I guess you shouldn’t be mentally ill. The best way to handle those calls is to run in, and just start shooting erratically. That is definitely the best way to handle it. Or perhaps kill a man crawling drunk on his hands and knees posing zero threat. Yeah, he deserved to die too, I guess you shouldn’t get drunk in hotels and have pellet guns. Because some uppity asshole can call the cops on you, next thing you know, you are dead. People with mental illnesses are 16 x more likely to be killed by cops.
CALL THE COPS!!! That’s what everyone always says. Fuck that. Many neighborhoods and communities don’t even bother. Why? Because they show up, assume the worst, start blasting and next thing you know your dog is dead and you’re shot. Why are people OBSESSED with calling the cops. We can handle shit on our own sometimes. Typical AMERICAN obsessions. We are SO MAD that Will Smith wasn’t IMMEDIATELY ARRESTED but hey all these cops killing and all these guns killing kids, MEH, fuck em.
I’m so sick of cops or anyone whining “NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD” “THERE ARE A FEW BAD APPLES”. As a social worker, me and my fellow social workers have all been lumped in as “CHILD KIDNAPPERS” so sorry if I don’t give a shit that cops get lumped in together. DO BETTER THEN. Do you want the bad apple surgeon? The bad apple psychiatrist? The bad apple truck driver? No. Fuck the bad apple argument and get rid of them. Cops have less training that hair stylists in almost every state. Most require a high school diploma. Then they do some bullshit “sensitivity” training what once a year? I’m sure it’s a joke and everyone LAUGHS. Cops should be required to have 4-year degrees, and undergo intense mental health training, constantly. We need to have mental health response units that actually know what the fuck they are doing. Remember the 10 year old that got pepper sprayed? OH RIGHT, there have been SO MANY, but the useless “mental health response” unit thought pepper spraying her in the face was a better choice, than I don’t know, TALKING TO HER, maybe a simple breathing exercise? NOPE, just mace her ass!!!
