World peace in a non-pacifist way [1]

WW1 was supposed to end all wars.
Clearly that didn’t happen. Even though WW1 was the worst that had happened at the time, the world has seen even worse wars since and based on the current trend towards more autocratic regimes it is not unlikely that there will be future wars topping those.
Since the war in Ukraine started, I have been thinking about what my sister said that she couldn’t believe that in the 21st century, countries are still fighting wars with people shooting and throwing bombs at each other. Being an engineer I took that comment to think of a solution that would prevent this from happening in the future. The resulting idea to eliminate future wars, is not by disarming, which I think will only increase the the likelihood of future wars, but by eliminate wars based on the “one for all, all for one” principle.
The idea is to start with the NATO concept that every member will support any other member that is attacked and extend that to all countries on earth. If it is easy enough to join the alliance and the number of countries in this alliance is large enough, then no country (including the US) would have an army large enough to successfully attack any other country, as it would always have to fight the rest of the world combined. This should prevent any future war, as long as the majority of the world stays interested in maintaining the current world order.
The main difficulty I see with this concept is of “free-loaders” that join the alliance but do not put in the resources to assist others if needed ( think NATO countries in Europe before the Ukraine war). The alliance therefore needs to have some verification mechanism that members spend at least the minimum amount required, and are removed if they do not. This amount could be as low as 1% of GDP or lower depending on size of the biggest military threat in the world.
The idea is probably not new, but I am interested what the people on site think about the idea. ( probably to find out why it not as good as I think it is).
