Wee gifts from Scotland, thanks to my friend Jenny. Street Prophets Coffee Hour [1]

Welcome to Street Prophets Coffee Hour, the place where politics meets up with religion, art, science, nature, and life. Come in, have a cuppa and a cookie (or three!) and join us.
I wrote a novella in June for a friend, the Jenny of the title, who’d had a bitter disappointment. I wanted to give her a bit of cheer as she waited for the situation to be sorted out. It was eventually resolved, but some things, once broken, can’t be made truly whole again. Nevertheless, I wrote the story for and about my friend and published it in the group Original Fiction, Poetry, & Memoir, for Fun and Progress, under the title Jenny’s Gifts.
Jenny is the wonderful person who, in addition to her regular work, maintains a website, Random Scottish History, where she’s preserving (as advertised) the history of Scotland, both large and small. She does the research for my fiction writing, bless her. And she also crochets toy animals to sell, as a fundraiser for the Scottish Mental Health Association. Because, of course she does. The story turns around those toys, both of real animals (Highland cow is my fave!) and Scotland’s fabled creatures (Nessie glows in the dark!). It’s a fairy tale, but it’s true, too. Mostly.
And here they are, Jenny’s gifts:
The rainbow bear lives at my house now.
Nessie glows green in the dark.
Gotta love this guy. I’ve seen ordinary cows lick like this, too.
And Jenny her own self, with a unicorn.
