Good morning, all you awesome Newdists. I hope you continue to be healthy and totally unassailed by Covid, or the flu, or any other ailments.
The flood images from Greece are horrible.
x The Thessalian plain in central Greece has literally turned into one enormous lake.
~70,000 hectares of land are under water.

This image from Hong Kong is also shocking and frightening —
x In Chai Wan, Hong Kong, under the heavy rain of 150 mm in one hour, the streets have turned into raging rivers! pic.twitter.com/nZrG1t8cQG — Jim yang (@yangyubin1998) September 7, 2023
Imagine getting that much rain in one hour. And the sad part is that possibility of spectacular drenching exists everywhere on the planet now. Everywhere. As does the possibility of sudden, raging wildfires.
The climate is re-forming right over us and under us, in this age of Plasticene. All of what makes life in this era faster than any era previously, is dependent on human technology guzzling more of the dead remains from millions of years ago.
As a species — are we addicted to speed?
I’m thinking that we are, and cannot give it up, no matter what.
Sometimes, I feel that we don’t really understand what’s coming at us, even though we’re looking right at it. Looking around I get the notion that some people think that more technology will save us. I don’t know if it will... or won’t.
I do feel certain though, that we should not be allowed to go on to settle any other planet. As a species, we appear to be world wreckers.
