COVID Quickie: XBB Monovalent Booster for the Fall - FDA Approval Imminent [1]

The FDA is set to approve the fall booster any day now — and while some speculated that the news might come by EOD Friday, it’s currently Saturday morning on the East Coast and there’s nothing from the FDA just yet. That being said, FDA approval appears to be imminent and in fact, the CDC has scheduled a meeting for its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for next Tuesday, September 12th, 2023:

This comes approx. 2.5 months after the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) met last June to “to discuss and make recommendations for SARS-CoV-2 strain(s) for updated COVID-19 vaccines for use in the United States beginning in the fall of 2023.”
