A great Labor Day Speech and a few delicious zingers from Biden in Philadelphia [1]

President was in Philadelphia today, celebrating Labor Day with the workers of America. In a speech to the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 19 in the city of brotherly love, Biden hailed his economic policies and labor policies, while adding a bit of humor and sting in pointing out the miserable record of his predecessor “the last guy” and “the guy who held this job before me.”
Take a look at this video clip below and the transcript of some of his words today -
When the last guy was here, you were shipping jobs to China. Now we’re bringing jobs home from China. When the last guy was here … your pensions were at risk. We helped save millions of pensions with your help. When the last guy was here, he looked at the world from Park Avenue. I look at it from Scranton, Pennsylvania. I look at it from Claymont, Delaware. Under my predecessor, ‘Infrastructure Week’ became a punchline. On my watch, infrastructure means a decade, and it’s a headline. The guy who held this job before me was just one of two presidents in history...who left office with fewer jobs in America than when he got elected to office. By the way, do you know who the other one was? Herbert Hoover. Isn’t that kind of coincidental? Guess what? The great real-estate builder, the last guy here, he didn’t build a damn thing.
We’re turning things around because of you. Like I said: In my first two years, I’ve created nearly 13.5 million jobs — more jobs in two years than any president has created in a four-year term — more. Eight hundred thousand new manufacturing jobs. Unemployment has been below 4 percent for the longest stretch in 50 years. We’ve recovered all the jobs lost during the pandemic. We’ve added millions more. We are replacing trickle-down economics with what everyone on Wall Street is referring to these days as Bidenomics, and guess what? It’s working. It’s about building the economy from the middle out and the bottom up not the top down. This is not a political statement, it’s an economic statement. When the middle class does well, everyone does well. Bidenomics is a blue-collar blueprint for America. It’s for you.
Decades of handing out excessive tax cuts to the rich and the corporations without making the investments in America and the American people — that had been a bust. It’s all done — it was all done to hollow out the middle class; blow up the deficit; ship jobs overseas; strip the dignity, pride, and hope out of a community, one after another, as they shut down the factory and sent it overseas because labor was cheaper and we imported a more expensive product. Let me say it loud and clear: Wall Street didn’t build America. The middle class built America, and unions built the middle class. We’re still a country that believes in honesty and decency and integrity. We’re still a country that believes in hard work and giving everyone a fair shot because we’re still a country that believes that every one of us is created equal. We’re still the beacon of the free world. Not a joke.

Somewhere in Mar-a-Lago, the last guy must be fuming in rage, throwing ketchup bottles and plotting his revenge. But first he has to stay out of jail.
A fact-filled Labor Day message from the Meidas Touch -
x Here are the facts:
Under President Biden, unions are strong and wages are up.
An infrastructure super cycle has begun. Manufacturing is booming.
Most of the media may want to hide these facts. So we need to be loud and clear.

It’s a simple uplifting unifying honest speech that appeals to the good senses of the American people. The humor and mockery of TFG is not back-handed; it is dignified and it is interlaced with simple facts. It is a lesson for all of us on how to talk about Biden and trump — mockery and outrage is fine so far as it highlights this administration's achievements and so far as it is accompanied by facts that will resonate with the American electorate.
