Greg Casar Drafting Bill to Connect Texas to National Electric Grids
Confirming his plans for a bill requiring the state to connect to national grids, Casar declared that "whether we're in the middle of a heatwave or a winter storm, Texas should be able to keep the lights on. This legislation will help consumers, improve the economy, generate more clean power, and save lives."
Hundreds of Texans died during the winter blackout a couple of years ago, and hundreds came close to dying this summer, as the grid miraculously avoided failure again during this historical heat wave. There is only one reason that Texas is not connected to the national grid.... Greed, and the desire to not be held accountable for violations of consumer law..... OK, make that 2 reasons. Forcing Texas' weak energy infrastructure into the rest of the grid is long overdue. Let's gettr' done, and to hell with Greg Abbott and the Texas GOP.
