MAGA ramps up anti-mask rhetoric - and then puts on masks [1]

COVID has not gone away — the US still averages around 10,000 new cases and c.100 deaths a day (note: the stats vary by source, so the exact number is unknowable) — but it is not high on the list of things people worry about. Moreover, there is no appetite from any state government, no matter how liberal, to reintroduce any of the measures enacted at the height of the pandemic. And the Biden administration is certainly not going to bring it up.

This has not stopped the sober-minded analysts at Alex Jones’ Infowars from warning: “EXCLUSIVE INTEL: Federal Officials Blow the Whistle on Biden’s Plan for New COVID Lockdowns” . It is not just the lunatic fringe that has cozied up to this hysteria. Mainstream madwomen have subscribed to the fevered fantasy.

You are trying to recondition us to get back to mandates, lockdowns, and the hysteria that brought on all the government control in 2020-2022. I do not know how the conservative Borg decides which imaginary threats become grist for their outrage mill, but perhaps stories of healthcare facilities taking medical precautions with PPE at a time when the virus has shown an increase may have triggered these choleric Cassandras. Regardless, my question is: If these people are so averse to wearing masks, why do so many of them do so?
