Mug Shot Theory: Why Trump Tilted His Head Down [1]

Sure, it’s a good bet that Trump honed his mug shot scowl prior to showing up for his arraignment. There is no doubt that he practiced his Joker on Adderall look for 30 or 40 indicted-in-Georgia-and-New-York minutes between (a) his morning Truth Social rant session (concurrent as usual with his daily extrusions of the previous night’s hemberders into a golden toilet made in Chy-nah) and (b) his daily Spray-tan-a-palooza session with Walt. The dude really nailed that “I’m pretending my hemorrhoid pain is a feature, not a bug” look. That takes effort, well done dude.
But the other curious thing about TFG’s mug shot (and here I mean “curious” in the same vein as wondering if Elon Musk washes his hands after he pees, which I bet he doesn’t) is the downward tilt of Trump’s head, which I presume wasn’t just because it was dragged down by the weight of his bloviated ego and the heft of his “I am your vengeance” evil overlord fantasy.
Look at all those other mug shots. Only one other person has their head tucked as much as Trump, the woman on the lower left on the picture gallery above. (I’d tell you who that is if I knew it off the top of my head, but I’m going to leave that bit of research to the Department of Someone Who Gives More Fucks About These Ass Clowns Than Me.) Yes, there’s also the lady in the dark pink blouse (I can only identify her at the moment as “Not Sydney Powell”) who has her head angled significantly downward, but her approach is less I’m a DC Comics supervillain in my Covidian-fevered dreams, and more Yes Mother Superior, I won’t tell a soul about Father Flannigan groping me in the nave during mass, can I go now?
Ah, but then we look at Donald. The well-practiced vengeance-is-going-to-be-mine-on-a-t-shirt-for-$39.50 scowl is deeply angled down. Why so, Donny? Is that just part of the “Blue Steel” magic?
Nope. There’s more to it.
I figured it out when I saw an article about John Eastman and noticed the ugly splotch of overexposed light on the upper right of the picture — a splotch which we might call (if forced to name a shade) “White Nationalist White.” At least five of the mug shots have that top-right over-exposure shit. And almost all of the others have a spot of glare on the upper right forehead.
As a photographer myself, that stuff really bugs me. If I good a shot like that, I’d Photoshop it out. Nobody wants that on their wedding pics.
And so it is for Trump, It’s just an anti-glare tactic that he figured out by looking at Rudy and Eastman and all the other (checks notes for what Trump calls them) losers.
We know Trump is famously vain. I don’t think I need to explain that any more than I might need to explain how, for instance, Mike Pence needs to ask Mother’s permission to share a debate stage with Nikki Haley. (Permission granted, but don’t shake her hand or you’ll catch her Sikh-ish Carolina cooties and have to spend the night on your knees praying that Mother lets you into the bedroom again someday.) Trump has famously complained that the media all too often uses unflattering pictures of him — in other words, pictures of him — when they should instead depict him as an astronaut lifting weights while riding a gilded Putin-faced stallion into a red, white and blue sunset (NFT #6, I believe).
So it’s not a stretch to guess that he noticed the upper-right quadrants of all the mug shots of his co-defendants a.k.a. minions a.k.a soon-to-be-thrown-under-a-bus chum, and figured out he needed to do with the “Rigger” lady on the lower right (I bet Trump doesn’t know her name either) did with her mug.
Hence the deep chin tuck. Combined with his combed-over orange scalp rug, that did the trick.
