Another Saturday Night: Music About Music [1]

Evening, all! Ghost here, excited to be leading my first ASN tonight! And our subject tonight is a bit self-referential: songs about music! Or about bands, or the music business, or…. well, you get the picture.

I’ll post two songs from my youth to begin, and then the rest is up to you!

First concert I ever went to was Adam Ant; here he is, back when it was Adam and the Ants, with “Antmusic”.

Music touches so many parts of our lives and it can serve as a vehicle for social commentary (Woody Guthrie, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, and too many others to name). Even songs about music can go this route, as The Clash do here with “(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais”.

As a reminder, says the teacher in me, please put the name of your selection in your comment along with your song. Because while I’m not smart enough to use my smartphone that way, many in the ASN community don’t have that handicap.
