John Eastman’s Comments on Fox: ‘Literally Just Confessed To The Crime’ [1]

I’m not sure why this isn’t making bigger headlines, but...
Wednesday, co-defendant John Eastman was on Fox. Laura Ingraham asked: “And just again, to clarify this, on January 6th, what did you want to happen?” He talked a bit around the VP Pence certification scheme, and then, for some reason, tried to justify his actions on 1/6 by saying he didn’t try anything major, he just wanted Mike Pence to hold off on certifying the election for a week or so. Because of “irregularities.”
“What I recommended, and I’ve said this repeatedly, is that he accede to requests from more than 100 state legislators in the swing states to give them a week to try and sort out the impact of what everybody acknowledged was illegality in the conduct of the election. [emphasis added]”
Uhm, that’s what those in the legal profession call “a confession.” National security lawyer Bradley Moss commented, “He literally just confessed to the crime.” Uh, yeah.
And as David Rothkopf, and a few other’s, have pointed out:
“I only wanted to steal a little money,” is not a defense. It’s an admission of guilt.
Just so we’re clear: Eastment went with "it wasn't a Civil War-level insurrection, it was just a mini-insurrection. An insurrection light. Just one calorie." No big deal, right?
Wrong.
Eastman went on national TV and admitted his guilt. And note that his words, not to mention the video, are absolutely admissible in court.
What in the world is he, and the other cronies, thinking? I have no idea. The fellas over at Electoral-vote.com have some salient thoughts on the matter:
We cannot imagine why these various Trump cronies, especially the ones who are veteran lawyers like Eastman is, keep going on TV to talk about the case. Are they trying to taint the jury pool? Are they so angry/offended/hurt that they need to vent, regardless of the consequences? Are they attention seekers trying to extend their 15 minutes of fame? Are they raising money for their defense funds? Those are our best guesses, but the fact is that they are playing with fire, due to the risk of saying something incriminating.
Say something incriminating indeed...
