Not really enough for a story, I suppose, but my friend John in Ghana went to visit Anabel yesterday and took some photos. I thought everyone would like so see how she’s doing.

Last autumn while my friend John living at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana some homeless children brought then three-year old Anabel to him. She had been left on the street on her own when her mother was admitted to a local hospital for mental problems due to drug addiction.

John has a reputation for caring for people in need and he managed to get Anabel placed in a local day-care type organization. We have been paying for her to stay there since. It’s not an ideal situation but at least she has a place to stay and someone to take care of her.

It looks like the mother won’t be able to care for Anabel anytime soon. She is still using drugs and in no shape to care for a child. She is at least aware of the problem and has thanked John for caring for Anabel. Still, it is not an ideal situation.

The madam who runs the care center is pushing to get Anabel enrolled in school and we are trying to scrape together the money for it. it’s a small amount but John is caring for others who are also in desperate need and it is hard to decide who will have to do without. Hopefully we will manage to get Anabel in school this month. She needs her education.

Anyway, this is Anabel as of yesterday. She is growing fast.

We will try to see to it that she has a good future.
