Are We On The Verge Of An Important Eve? [1]

I read a lot of the stories on Daily Kos. I would hazard to say I read at least 50% of them. There are some groups I’m not interested in, but for political and Ukrainian War news, there isn’t a much better source.

I appreciate when the writers inject a little personality, a bit of a sense of humor into the reporting, regardless of the content. Hunter and Aldous and others are quite good at this. It seems others have also taken a bit more effort to inject at least a little levity into otherwise serious and seriously preposterous times.

But there was a sensei, a master at this. His style and insight hasn’t been seen here since (checks notes) June 17th. Keeping up with the insanity of the world while still trying to make fun of things can be exhausting, both mentally and also mentally. How certain people remain hypnotized for years by the dumbest of dumbfucks is still a conundrum.

He left us with this cryptic message: “How long a break? I dunno. Off the top off my head, Labor Day seems like a good target. Gonna percolate on it for a spell. I will let you know.”

This was the final message from Shower Cap, and his Friday night screeds had already become a bit of a ritual, even if I couldn’t get to them the moment they were posted. I always read them for both the humor and perhaps a bit of insight into things I didn’t even know were happening. His writing style is somewhat unparalleled in these parts, and some of the metaphors and similes I’m sure have been shared far and wide.

Well, here we are. This is Labor Day weekend. Are we going to see the reemergence of the Bard of Belligerence? The Scribe of Silliness? The Observer of the maybe not-so-Obvious? The dude that made us laugh?

I don’t know, but I’m crossing my fingers. I miss his rants. They were a bit of a one of a kind thing here, and I know I am not alone in missing them. They lit up the worst Fridays (and some better ones too) and they were anticipated a day or two before being posted.

I don’t personally know him. I cannot say if we will get his return this weekend. I will say I would rate it more likely than JFK Jr. showing up, though. Keep the dream alive!
