Okay!
Here is the link to the list of songs I chose from:
en.wikipedia.org/…
Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, at number 99:
This song is from The Prince of Egypt, a cartoon movie about Moses and the events in the Book of Exodus. (That is why I posted the picture at the top, of Moses.)
This song is sung by two superstars. Two of them. Wow. So smooth, so powerful.
The Goo Goo Dolls, at number 94:
Wow.
This is why I am doing this series of music diaries. This song is an old friend, a part of me. How did it end up at number 94?
Brian McKnight, at number 82:
www.bing.com/…
One, you're like a dream come true
Two, just wanna be with you
Three, girl, It's plain to see
That you're the only one for me, and Four, repeat steps one through three
Five, make you fall in love with me
If ever I believe my work is done
Then I'll start back at one
Sage advice. So smooth, so nice.
Will Smith, at number 53:
I like that truly smooth style of Will Smith.
Lou Bega, at number 42:
I know, I know, too many women. I just like the song. Ignore the promiscuity! (If you can.)
Lenny Kravitz, at number 29:
Oh, yes! Turn it up! Louder!
Eagle-Eye Cherry, at number 22:
I mainly just like this song, musically: melody, rhythm, etc. The video is fun, with the singer taking on all the different roles in the drama of the neighborhood.
Santana, featuring Rob Thomas, at number 19:
Okay, Santana is more of a Boomer’s kind of music:
en.wikipedia.org/…
Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana. The band has undergone various recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Santana being the only consistent member. After signing with Columbia Records, the band's appearance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 increased their profile, and they went on to record the commercially successful and critically-acclaimed albums Santana (1969), Abraxas (1970), and Santana III (1971).
So, this song was partly a way of looking back in time.
But the singer for this song was much younger:
en.wikipedia.org/…
Robert Kelly Thomas[1] (born February 14, 1972)
Born after those big Santana albums came out, so, yes, much younger. Who says the different generations cannot come together, and understand each other, and savor the music from different times?
That title, Smooth, got me going:
Okay.
Ricky Martin, at number 10:
I looked up the translation, to make sure. The Crazy Life. From smooth to crazy. Okay. (Fun, lively song.)
Cher, at number 1:
Wow. So powerful. It made me cry. (A lot of things make me cry.)
en.wikipedia.org/…
Cher (/ʃɛər/; born Cherilyn Sarkisian; May 20, 1946) is an American singer, actress and television personality. Often referred to by the media as the "Goddess of Pop",[1] she has been described as embodying female autonomy in a male-dominated industry.
More Boomer era music, charging ahead, decades later.
Okay, your turn.
Here is the link again:
en.wikipedia.org/…
Boomers or younger, hard rock or smooth, post the songs you feel that we just cannot ignore!
Hugs!
